Jazz I [John Coltrane, Oil on Canvas, 30×40]
When I think of Jazz, Coltrane comes up first, a split of a second before Miles. Maybe because to me he sounds more Impressionistic than Miles. Form is deconstructed elegantly. There are no rough distinguished strokes in Coltrane’s pallet. Form is there, but blended with a complex environment, where the focal point sifts between subject/form and matter/environment.
